Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during the celebration of the Mass. They also announce the intentions for the general intercessions and, in the absence of the cantor, read the psalm. Men, women and teenagers who accept the call to this ministry are people of faith, who love Scripture.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers are people with a deep devotion to the Eucharist. St. John the Baptist parish has over 100 Eucharistic Ministers who assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during weekend Masses, weekday Masses, and funerals.

Altar Servers

Altar servers assist during the liturgies. Boys and girls who have received their First Communion are welcome to serve. Training takes place each year.  Adults interested in serving during weekday liturgies and funerals are also invited to become altar servers.

Ushers

Ushers are ministers of hospitality who serve with joy, dependability, kindness, and reverence.  Their duties include:

  • welcoming people and helping them find seats
  • assisting people who bring the gifts to the altar
  • taking up the collection
  • assisting anyone who becomes ill during the Mass
  • handling emergencies
  • passing out bulletins and wishing people a good day.
  • making sure the church is ready for the next Mass.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children gather in the Worship Center for  the Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 10 a.m. Mass on the first, second and fourth Sunday of the Month.  On the third Sunday, there is a special Children's liturgy in the Church.
